Meditation

“Thoughts come and go, they are transient, momentary. Notice them and let them go, returning your attention again and again to the breath.”

- Kathleen McDonald

Meditation is an art and a discipline. It takes practice to become proficient, and some may be better at it than others. But everyone can, and in this hectic day and age, needs to meditate.

It is important to try a variety of different types of exercises as some methods will work more effectively for you than others. Meditation is most effectual when you choose a regular time and place to practise the techniques.

Ideally we need to make every activity in our lives a practice in meditation, in mindfulness. Mindfulness is living each moment with full awareness.  But such a goal takes time, and we just want to take the first step—regular meditative practice.

“Lift up the self by the Self

And don’t let the self droop down

For the Self is the self’s only friend

And the self is the Self’s only foe.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”  - Leo F. Buscaglia  (1924-1998)

The Breath of Life Meditation From The Quiet Mind—Sayings of White Eagle

Relax mind and body and breathe slowly and deeply. As you breathe in, try to imagine that you are filling every particle of your being with *God, with God’s breath. As this love fills your heart and mind, every atom, every cell of your body will be filled with perfect life.
Today live the perfect life!

***********

*For those who are uncomfortable with the concept of *God, simply replace this word with whatever divine, philosophical, even scientific concept which best suits your personal belief system. For example, you could replace this term with the Hindu concept of “prana” - the sparks of life force contained within all matter, even the air about us. Or calling divinity the “Universe of Love and Light” , or replacing the word God with “positively-charged particles” for the science-minded
-whatever you feel most suits you.
