I dream of a collaboration that will become so complete that, often, the poet will think as musician and the musician as poet, so that the work resulting from this union will not be the random conclusion of a series of approximations and concessions, but the harmonious synthesis of two aspects of the same thought.—Arthur Honneger (1892-1955) |

DULCE ET DECORUM EST By Wilfred Owen
This is one of the most famous anti-war poems ever written. The Latin title means: "Sweet and fitting it is to die for one's country." (From Horace, Odes, III. ii. 13)
Bent double, like old beggars under sacks, Gas! GAS! Quick, boys!--An ecstasy of fumbling In all my dreams before my helpless sight If in some smothering dreams, you too could pace

Epitaph on a Tyrant
Perfection of a kind, was what he was after, And the poetry he invented was easy to understand; He knew human folly like the back of his hand, And was greatly interested in armies and fleets; When he laughed, respectable senators burst with laughter, And when he cried the little children died in the streets.

HINDU PRAYER FOR PEACE Oh Lord God Almighty, may there be Pace in celestial regions.
May those frightened cease to be afraid and may those bound be free. May the powerless find power, and may people think of befriending one another. May those who find themselves in trackless, fearful wilderness -
Thou art the food No matter where I go, the spotlight of my mind When boisterous storms of trails shriek When my mind weaves dreams with threads of memories In waking, eating, working, dreaming, sleeping, May the work of your hands be a sign of gratitude and reverence for the human condition.

Frequent, overwhelming episodes of appreciation 9. Contented feelings of connectedness with others and with nature 10. Frequent attacks of smiling through the eyes and from the heart 11. Increasing tendency to let things happen rather than make them happen 12. Increasing susceptibility to Love extended by others as well as the uncontrollable urge to extend it If you have all or even most of the above symptoms, please be advised that your condition may be too far advanced to turn back. If you are exposed to anyone exhibiting several of these symptoms, remain exposed at your own risk. This condition of Inner Peace is likely to be well into its infectious stage. |
